The Southern African Science Service Centre for Climate Change and Adaptive Land Management (SASSCAL) is thrilled to announce the 2nd Call for Master’s degree and TVET Scholarship Applications for Namibian Youths. SASSCAL invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for scholarships offered under the the Youth for Green Hydrogen (Y4H2) Programme. The Y4H2 Scholarship programme has been established in collaboration with the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Namibian Ministry of Higher Education, Technology, and Innovation. The programme is fully funded by BMBF and SASSCAL has been appointed as the implementing partner for the Y4H2 programme.
Innovation Commissioner for “Green Hydrogen” at the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, Mr. Till Mansmann MP says the following on the publication of the second selection round of the “Youth for Green Hydrogen” scholarship program:
“Namibia is ideally suited for the production of green hydrogen – sun, wind, and land areas are abundant. But the most important resource for harnessing this potential is the people who make it possible. That’s why I’m all the more pleased that with the second round of the “Youth for Green Hydrogen” scholarship program, we’re making this educational opportunity available to even more young people, laying an excellent foundation for a successful hydrogen partnership between Namibia and Germany.”
The Y4H2 Programme offers scholarships to Namibian Youth (18 – 35 years old) in the following two categories related to the Green Hydrogen value chain:
- Master’s degree (in disciplines such as applied science, renewable energy/sustainable energy systems, logistics and supply chain management)
- Technical Vocational Education and Training – TVET Certificate Level 3, 4 and 5 related to the Green Hydrogen value chain (in trades such as boiler making, bricklaying and plastering, plumbing and pipe fitting, welding and metal fabrication, solar and wind energy systems installation and maintenance, business services)
This announcement represents a significant milestone in the Joint Communique of Intent (JCoI) signed between the Namibian and German Governments, aimed at fostering the development of the Green Hydrogen industry in Namibia. This initiative aligns seamlessly with the global movement to transition the energy sector towards climate-friendly solutions, paving the way for a sustainable and environmentally conscious future.
Interested candidates can find detailed application guidelines and deadlines on the JCoI website. Join us in empowering the youth of Namibia to become champions of green hydrogen technology and pioneers of a cleaner, brighter tomorrow.
