SASSCAL 2.0 Research Programme was successfully announced through various media from 29 April 2019. SASSCAL 2.0 is supported by BMBF for Euro 10 million. After the successful announcement of the research Call, SASSCAL embarked on national stakeholder workshops in member states. The aim of the national workshops was to share information and provide a platform for interaction of researchers to allow for discussions and to build possible contacts and networks to respond to the call. The first workshop was help in Angola on 11 June, followed by Namibia on 17 June, Zambia 21 June and Botswana on 25 June 2019.
Participants for the workshop were drawn from various sectors including government departments, universities, independent researchers, CBOs, NGOs, SMEs as well as various media houses. Member states board members as well as line ministries supported the workshops and re-affirmed their commitment to the regional initiative.
The workshops provided an ideal platform for especially technical clarity on the call. Prospective grantees received in-depth overview of the call guidelines and clarity on the submission mechanisms. The workshops supported the building of consortia, including the support for identifying German and Regional partners. Namibia and Botswana participants had the opportunity to present their concepts while Angola participants formed/identified consortium partners, Germany partners and even presented their budgets. The Angola node held five pre-stakeholder workshops spear headed by the board chair Prof Gabriel Luís Miguel.
The deadline for applications is 16 August 2019, 00:00 Hrs and no late submissions will be considered.
