We are pleased to introduce Dr. Musonda Ng’onga who joined SASSCAL as a Senior Scientist at the Regional Secretariat on 1st June 2023. Dr Ng’onga is a researcher specialized in Natural Resources Management with a special interest in Climate Change Adaptation. He has 15 years of experience in conducting biophysical, socio-economic and institutional research, Mid-term reviews and End of project Evaluation, Impact and Vulnerability Assessments, Results Oriented Monitoring Frameworks. In the last 10 years, his research has focused on Climate Change Adaptation in natural resources-based livelihoods. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Natural Resources Management – Climate Change Adaptation from Copperbelt University (Zambia), Master Degree in Tropical Ecology and Biodiversity from University of Zambia and Bachelor’s Degree in Aquaculture and Fisheries Sciences (Agriculture/Aquaculture Systems) from University of Malawi.
Before joining SASSCAL, He worked as the Project Manager under Rural Landscape Transformation Network, Climate Adaptation Expert/M&E expert under African Development Bank (AfDB) supported project, Researcher under United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Agriculture Coordinator and Senior Research Officer in the Ministry of Agriculture of the Government Republic of Zambia. He also possess working experience with donor-funded projects: Conservation Agriculture Scaling-Up (funded by FAO), Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development (funded by Finland), World Wide for Nature (funded by WWF), Smallholder Agriculture Production Promotion Programme (S3P) (funded by World Bank), Community Environment Management Programme (funded by UNDP), and Fisheries Co-management Development (funded by Netherlands Development Organization-SNV). We are excited and look forward to seeing him achieve great things with the SASSCAL team.
