SASSCAL APPOINTS ENERGY RESEARCHER
The Southern African Science Service Centre for Climate Change and Adaptive Land Management (SASSCAL) continues to add special skills to its personnel to effectively carry out its mandate in the region. The regional organisation has appointed Ms. Fenni M.T Shidhika as an energy researcher in the Department of Science, Technology and Capacity Development. She joined SASSCAL on 7 May 2024.
Ms. Shidhika is not new to the research and energy fields. From 2016 until April this year, she worked at the Namibia Energy Institute at the Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency as a Researcher where she was responsible for coordinating, managing projects and consulting in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (REEE). Furthermore, she assisted and co-supervised students that were conducting research in REEE, specifically in solar photovoltaic and solar thermal.
Her illustrious career started after she matriculated at Oshigambo High School and went on to graduate with a National Diploma in Electronic Engineering at the then Polytechnic of Namibia, now recognised as the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST). Ms. Shidhika holds a Master of Engineering and a Post Graduate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering in Renewable and Sustainable Energy Studies from Stellenbosch University, a Master of Science in Electronics and Electrical Systems, a Master of Technology in Electrical Engineering, a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering all from Cape Peninsula University of Technology and a Project Management Certificate from Stellenbosch University Business School.
She also belongs to a number of professional organisations namely: Namibia Women in Engineering, Women in Renewable Energy and is registered as Incorporated Engineer in Training with Engineering Council of Namibia. SASSCAL warmly welcomes Ms. Shidhika aboard and wishes her the best as she embarks on her new role.
