This year SASSCAL is hosting a High-level Climate engagement in Namibia. The event is referred to as “SASSCAL CLIMATE-CHANGE DIALOGUE” and provides a unique platform that brings the scientific community, policymakers, and youth together to discuss key challenges of climate change in the country and within the region.
The Climate Dialogue will take place from the 21st to 22nd November 2023 at Mercure Hotel in Windhoek, Namibia.
As stated by Dr. Jane Olwoch, Executive Director of SASSCAL the main objective of this event is to engage participants in high-level structures to reflect on the national agenda at COP 28. The dialogue will also focus on deliberating on climate-related issues within Namibia and other SASSCAL countries.
The dialogue will bring together relevant government ministries and key stakeholders to discuss climate issues relevant to the national climate change policies. The event will cover SASSCAL initiatives such as the SASSCAL 2.0 research programme, the SASSCAL Graduate Studies Programme in Integrated Water Resources Management (SGSP-IWRM), and Green Hydrogen developments in the SADC region.
The dialogue presents an opportunity to collectively address key stakeholders in the climate change space and outline key policy objectives that need collective action.
The following stakeholders are expected to attend: Ministers or their delegates, members of Parliament, Government representatives, UN and other Development Partners, Local Authorities, Public Enterprises, Research partner institutions, Academics and employees from the Ministry of Agriculture, and Water Reform and SASSCAL officials are expected to attend the dialogue.
